Step by step

How to sell stationery online in 6 steps.

  1. Give the paper facts

Paper weight in gsm, page count, paper color, ruling and binding. Stationery lovers decide on these before they look twice at the cover.

  2. Test with real pens

Write on each paper with a fountain pen, a gel pen and a marker, then photograph the front and the back of the page. Show any ghosting or bleed-through honestly.

  3. Use ruling and covers as options

List each notebook once, with dot grid, lined and blank and the cover colors as options, each with its own stock and SKU.

  4. Show it opened flat

Photograph the notebook lying open, the binding, the endpapers and a page in use. People want to know if it lies flat before they buy.

  5. Plan for back to school and the holidays

Stationery sells most in late summer and before the winter holidays. Add bundles and gift sets ahead of both, with stock you can really make in time.

  6. Sell to shops on request

Independent shops, bookstores and cafés stock stationery. Add a wholesale page with “price on request” so they can ask for your terms and minimums.

Built in

A shop made for stationery, not a blank template.

  • Options for every ruling

Ruling, size and cover color can each be options with their own price, SKU and stock, so a sold-out dot grid stops at checkout while lined keeps selling.

  • A stationery box on Growth

A monthly or quarterly box of new paper goods can be a subscription billed by Stripe. Subscribers see their plan in their account.

  • Big ranges from a spreadsheet

On the Growth plan, import a long range of pens, pads and refills from a spreadsheet instead of adding them one by one.

  • Wholesale requests in your Inbox

Shops send their details through a price-on-request form, and you reply with your line sheet and trade terms by email.

Good to know

  • Weight doesn’t tell the whole story

Some thin papers handle fountain pens beautifully and some heavy ones bleed. Give the gsm, and only say “fountain pen friendly” after testing with the pens your buyers use.

  • Green claims need proof

Say “recycled” only with a recycled share you can back up, and use the FSC label only if your supplier is certified and you have permission. In the EU, rules in force since September 2026 restrict vague claims like “eco-friendly” that you can’t prove.

  • Protect the corners

Notebook corners dent easily. Use a rigid mailer or a box with card around each notebook, and weigh one of each size to set your shipping rates.

General information to help you get started, not legal advice. Rules differ by country, state and product, so check the ones that apply to you.

How it works

From a few words to a shop that takes payments, live.

  1. Step 1: Describe your business

A sentence or two is enough: what you do, who it’s for and how people buy from you.

  2. Step 2: We build it while you watch

Cornerrr writes your pages, adds your products or services, and picks the colours, fonts and look. It takes about a minute.

  3. Step 3: Connect payments

Link a Stripe account, or create one in a few minutes. Your customers pay you directly.

  4. Step 4: You’re live

Publish on your free Cornerrr web address, or use your own. Change anything later by asking.

Questions

Good to know

What paper should I use for fountain-pen-friendly notebooks?

Weight alone doesn’t decide it: coating and finish matter too, and some thin papers outperform heavy ones. Test samples with the pens your buyers use, and put your results and the gsm on the product page.

Can I sell a stationery subscription box?

Yes, on the Growth plan. A monthly or quarterly box can be a subscription billed by Stripe, and subscribers see it in their account. Plan each box a few months ahead so the stock is ready.

How do I photograph stationery so it sells?

Use daylight, a plain desk and a few props in use: a pen, a cup, a hand writing. Show the cover, the inside opened flat and a written page. Cornerrr can draft a listing from your photo for you to edit.

Do I charge sales tax or VAT on stationery?

Usually, wherever you’re required to collect it. On Cornerrr, Stripe Tax can calculate sales tax or VAT at checkout on any paid plan, once it’s turned on in your Stripe account.

Do I need any technical skills?

No. You describe your business in your own words and Cornerrr builds the website. Afterwards you change things by clicking, or by asking the assistant in plain words.

How much does it cost?

Building and previewing your website is free, with no card needed. To go live and take payments, choose a plan from $19 a month. Every paid plan starts with a 14-day free trial; a card is needed to start it.
