Step by step

How to sell shoes online in 6 steps.

  1. Choose a size system and convert it

Pick the system your lasts are made in, then give US, UK and EU equivalents and the foot length in centimeters for each size. Conversions differ between brands, so foot length is the number that settles it.

  2. Plan the size grid before you buy stock

Ten sizes in three colors is thirty stock counts per style. Every combination is an option with its own stock, so start with fewer colors and the sizes that sell most.

  3. Write fit notes like a shop assistant

Say if a style runs large or small, whether it suits wide feet, how much room there is in the toe and whether the leather stretches. One honest line here saves an exchange.

  4. Photograph every side

Side, front, back, top, sole and a pair on feet. Add close-ups of the stitching, the lining and the tread, because buyers look at construction to judge the price.

  5. Make exchanges simple and clear

Say how to send back unworn pairs, whether the box must be undamaged and who pays postage. EU and UK customers can usually cancel within 14 days, and Cornerrr can draft a refund policy page that you adjust.

  6. Ship the shoe box inside another box

Customers keep shoe boxes, so ship them inside an outer carton and set a fixed rate that covers the size. Add the tracking number and the customer gets the shipping email.

Built in

A shop made for shoes, not a blank template.

  • A size grid that stays honest

Every size, width and color keeps its own stock and SKU, and stock goes down when an order is paid. A sold-out 41 stops selling while the 42 carries on.

  • Import a big catalog

On the Growth plan you can import products from a spreadsheet, which saves hours when you’re adding a full season of styles at once.

  • Made to measure on request

Bespoke or made-to-measure pairs work as requests: a form for foot measurements, the style and the leather, which lands in your Inbox for you to quote.

  • Pages for fit and returns

A size chart, a fit guide and a returns page, each edited by clicking and linked from every product. The AI can draft the refund and shipping pages for you to adjust.

Good to know

  • Material labels on shoes in Europe

In the EU and UK, shoes must be labeled with the material of the upper, the lining and sock, and the outer sole, using words or pictograms. Give the same materials in each listing.

  • Returns are part of the cost

Shoes are among the most returned items bought online. Budget for return postage and for pairs that come back too worn to resell, and set your prices with that in mind.

  • Care and resoling

If your shoes can be resoled, say so and say how; it’s a strong reason to pay more for a well-made pair. A care page for leather and suede cuts down on “my shoes are stained” emails.

Cornerrr writes your pages, adds your products or services, and picks the colours, fonts and look. It takes about a minute.

  3. Step 3: Connect payments

Link a Stripe account, or create one in a few minutes. Your customers pay you directly.

  4. Step 4: You’re live

Publish on your free Cornerrr web address, or use your own. Change anything later by asking.

Questions

Good to know

How do I handle shoe sizes for US, UK and EU customers?

Choose one size system for your labels, publish a conversion chart with foot length in centimeters, and repeat the key conversion on each product. The gaps between systems differ for men’s and women’s sizes, so give both if you make both.

Should I offer free exchanges on shoes?

Many shoe shops do, because fit is the main reason for returns and an easy exchange keeps the sale. If you can’t afford it on every order, a clear fit guide and honest fit notes are cheaper ways to help.

Can I sell handmade or made-to-measure shoes online?

Yes. Ready sizes sell as products with stock, and made-to-measure pairs work as requests with the price hidden. On Cornerrr, the customer sends their measurements and style, the request lands in your Inbox, and you reply with a quote and timing.

Do I need any technical skills?

No. You describe your business in your own words and Cornerrr builds the website. Afterwards you change things by clicking, or by asking the assistant in plain words.

How much does it cost?

Building and previewing your website is free, with no card needed. To go live and take payments, choose a plan from $19 a month. Every paid plan starts with a 14-day free trial; a card is needed to start it.
