Online store for rugs

Sell rugs online that look the same when they arrive

People who buy rugs online want the true color, the exact size and the condition before they pay. Cornerrr builds a rug shop around those facts: one-of-a-kind rugs that sell once, sizes as options for new lines, custom sizes on request and a Stripe checkout.

Step by step

How to sell rugs online in 6 steps.

  1. Measure every rug yourself

Give length and width in feet and centimeters, pile height and weight, and say whether the size includes the fringe. Vintage rugs often don’t match standard sizes, so measure each one.

  2. Photograph flat, close and in a room

One photo straight from above in daylight, one of the back to show the knots, close-ups of the pile and fringe, and one in a room for scale. Color is the first thing rug buyers ask about.

  3. Describe fiber, weave and origin

Wool, cotton, jute or silk; hand-knotted, flatweave or tufted; where and roughly when it was made. These are the words people type when they search for a rug.

  4. Note the condition plainly

For vintage rugs, show wear, repairs, low pile and color runs in their own photos. A buyer who saw a flaw before paying rarely sends the rug back for it.

  5. Set shipping by roll size

Rolled rugs make long, heavy parcels, and carriers charge for size as well as weight. Pack your smallest and largest rug, check the price, and set a few fixed rates that cover each size band.

  6. Take custom sizes as requests

If you weave or tuft to order, let customers ask for a size and colors. The request lands in your Inbox with their measurements, and you reply with a quote and a lead time.

Built in

A shop made for rugs, not a blank template.

  • One-of-a-kind rugs sell once

Give each vintage rug a stock of one. Checkout stops the moment it sells, so you never have to refund a second buyer for the same rug.

  • Sizes and colors for woven-to-order lines

New rugs that come in several sizes can be one product with size and color options, each with its own price and stock.

  • Custom and trade requests

Interior designers and buyers with odd-shaped rooms send their measurements through a request form, and you answer by email from your Inbox.

  • Prices in more currencies on Pro

Selling to the US and Europe? On the Pro plan you can add prices in other currencies, each shown on its own web address, while every payment still goes to your Stripe account.

Good to know

  • Flammability rules in the US

Carpets and rugs sold in the US must meet federal flammability standards. Small rugs that don’t pass the test must carry a permanent warning label, and one-of-a-kind rugs such as antiques have their own rules. Check the CPSC’s guidance for the rugs you sell.

  • Know who made it

Buyers of new hand-knotted rugs often ask who wove them and in what conditions. Know your supplier, and only claim “fair trade” or “child-labor free” if a certification backs it.

  • Returns from far away

In the EU and UK, customers can usually cancel an online order within 14 days, and they pay the return shipping only if you told them so before they bought. Decide your policy and put it on a returns page before your first sale.

General information to help you get started, not legal advice. Rules differ by country, state and product, so check the ones that apply to you.

Cornerrr writes your pages, adds your products or services, and picks the colours, fonts and look. It takes about a minute.

  3. Step 3: Connect payments

Link a Stripe account, or create one in a few minutes. Your customers pay you directly.

  4. Step 4: You’re live

Questions

Good to know

How do I ship a large rug?

Roll it tightly around a tube, wrap it in plastic and then in strong paper or a rug bag, and tape it at both ends and the middle. On Cornerrr you add the carrier and tracking number to the order, and the buyer gets a shipping email with the link.

Can buyers order a custom size rug?

Yes. Add a custom version marked “price on request”, buyers send their room size and colors, and the request lands in your Inbox for a quote.

How do I photograph rugs so the colors look right?

Shoot in indirect daylight, straight from above, with no filters, and include one photo next to something white for reference. Name the main colors in the description too.

Can I sell rugs to Europe from the US?

Yes. Choose the countries you ship to and set an international rate, and Stripe Checkout takes cards and wallets from abroad. Import duties and VAT may apply on their side, so say who pays them.

Do I need any technical skills?

No. You describe your business in your own words and Cornerrr builds the website. Afterwards you change things by clicking, or by asking the assistant in plain words.

How much does it cost?

Building and previewing your website is free, with no card needed. To go live and take payments, choose a plan from $19 a month. Every paid plan starts with a 14-day free trial; a card is needed to start it.
