Online store for custom signs

Sell custom signs online, from the first proof to the parcel

Most custom signs start with someone else’s words, so selling custom signs online is half shop, half conversation. Cornerrr builds both: ready designs with size and color options in the cart, custom wording as requests in your Inbox, and a Stripe checkout.

Step by step

How to sell custom signs online in 6 steps.

  1. Sell a few fixed designs

Signs with set wording, like a “Welcome to our wedding” sign in three sizes, can sell straight from the cart with size, color and font as options. They’re your quickest orders.

  2. Take personal wording as a request

Names, dates, logos and odd sizes need a conversation. Mark them “price on request” and ask for the exact wording, size, colors and the date it’s needed.

  3. Always send a proof

Email a mockup and get a written yes before you cut or paint. Spelling mistakes on a sign are expensive, and the proof email is your record of what was approved.

  4. Show signs in place

Photograph signs on a real wall, door, easel or storefront, with a person or a doorway in the shot for scale. Buyers struggle to picture size from measurements alone.

  5. Give lead times by type

Hand-painted, laser-cut and neon signs take different amounts of time. Put the lead time on each product and in your FAQ, with a rush option if you offer one.

  6. Pack flat and protect the corners

Use rigid board, corner protectors and a sturdy box, with extra padding for neon and acrylic. Set your shipping rates by the size of the box, not just the weight.

Built in

A shop made for custom signs, not a blank template.

  • Requests with the details you need

Customers describe the wording, size and date in a request that lands in your Inbox and by email, ready for you to send a proof and a quote.

  • Options for size, color and finish

Ready designs can have size, color, font and finish as options, each with its own price, so a customer can order a standard sign without waiting for a quote.

  • Business buyers with tax IDs

Shops, cafés and offices can add a tax ID at checkout and receive an invoice for one-time orders, which their bookkeeper will thank them for.

  • Rush orders as an option

Offer a faster turnaround as an option with its own price on ready designs, and limit its stock to the number you can really make in time.

Good to know

  • Personalized items and returns

In the EU and UK, the 14-day right to cancel online orders doesn’t apply to goods made to the customer’s specifications, such as a sign with their name on it. Say clearly in your returns policy which items can’t be returned.

  • Neon signs are electrical products

LED neon and other lit signs need a safe power supply and the right plug for each country. In the EU and UK they need CE or UKCA marking, and US buyers often look for a UL or ETL listed adapter.

  • Logos and trademarks

Only make signs with a business logo for that business or with its permission. Ask customers in your request form to confirm they have the right to use the logo or artwork they send.

General information to help you get started, not legal advice. Rules differ by country, state and product, so check the ones that apply to you.

How it works

From a few words to a shop that takes payments, live.

  1. Step 1: Describe your business

A sentence or two is enough: what you do, who it’s for and how people buy from you.

  2. Step 2: We build it while you watch

Cornerrr writes your pages, adds your products or services, and picks the colours, fonts and look. It takes about a minute.

  3. Step 3: Connect payments

Link a Stripe account, or create one in a few minutes. Your customers pay you directly.

  4. Step 4: You’re live

Publish on your free Cornerrr web address, or use your own. Change anything later by asking.

Questions

Good to know

How do I price custom signs?

Start from materials, size and your hours for design, cutting or painting, then add a margin and the cost of shipping a large flat box. Put fixed prices on ready designs and quote anything unusual.

How do customers send the wording for a custom sign?

Through a request form on your website. You get it in your Cornerrr Inbox and by email, then reply with a proof and a price. Nothing is made until they approve.

Can I sell signs to businesses?

Yes. Businesses can buy ready designs at checkout with a tax ID and get an invoice, or send a request for a storefront or office sign that you quote. Remind them to check local sign permits for anything outdoors.

Can I sell neon signs to other countries?

You can, if each sign has the right plug and power supply for that country and the safety marks it needs. On Cornerrr you choose the countries you ship to, so add them one at a time as you’re ready.

Do I need any technical skills?

No. You describe your business in your own words and Cornerrr builds the website. Afterwards you change things by clicking, or by asking the assistant in plain words.

How much does it cost?

Building and previewing your website is free, with no card needed. To go live and take payments, choose a plan from $19 a month. Every paid plan starts with a 14-day free trial; a card is needed to start it.
