You can sell woodworking projects online without giving up shop time to build a website. Tell Cornerrr what you make and it builds the store: boards, bowls and boxes with wood species as options, engraving and commission requests, shipping rates and a Stripe checkout.

Step by step

How to sell woodwork online in 6 steps.

  1. Turn wood species into options

Walnut, maple and cherry can be options on one product, each with its own price and stock. Show one photo of each wood so buyers see its real color, not a stain.

  2. Explain that every piece is unique

Grain and color vary with every board. Say so on each product, and for one-off pieces such as burl bowls, photograph the actual piece and give it a stock of one.

  3. Say what the finish is

Mineral oil, beeswax, hard wax oil or lacquer: name it, say whether it’s food safe once cured, and add how to care for it. Buyers of cutting boards and bowls ask this first.

  4. Take personalization as requests

Names and dates for engraving, custom sizes or matching sets work best as “price on request” items. The customer sends the wording through a form and you reply with a proof and a quote.

  5. Show the workshop

Photos of your bench, your tools and work in progress tell buyers why a handmade board costs more than a store-bought one. Put a few on your About page.

  6. Get ready for gift season

Wooden pieces are popular gifts for the winter holidays, Father’s Day and weddings. Give a last order date for engraved items, which take longer than stock pieces.

Built in

A shop made for woodwork, not a blank template.

  • Commissions and corporate orders

Businesses that want fifty engraved boards and couples after a custom piece send the details through a request form. Requests land in your Inbox and by email, and you reply with a quote.

  • Plans as downloads

If you draw plans, sell them as digital downloads on any paid plan. They’re delivered after payment and kept in the buyer’s account.

  • Discount codes for craft fairs

Hand out a discount code at craft fairs so people who took your card can order later, with the dates and usage limits you set.

  • Listings from a photo

Upload a photo of a new bowl and Cornerrr drafts the title, description, tags and alt text, which you edit before saving.

Good to know

  • Food-safe finishes

Many common oil and wax finishes are considered food safe once fully cured, but curing can take days or weeks. Ship boards and bowls only when the finish has cured, and say which finish you used.

  • Claims about wood

Only use “FSC” or other certification logos if you’re certified or buy certified wood with the paperwork to prove it. “Locally felled” or “reclaimed” are good claims when they’re true.

  • Wood moves

Boards can crack or warp in very dry homes. A care note about oiling and keeping wood away from heaters and the dishwasher saves complaints later.

Questions

Good to know

What woodworking projects sell best online?

Small, useful pieces that ship easily, such as cutting boards, serving boards, bowls and boxes, tend to sell steadily. Larger furniture sells too, but shipping costs and lead times need more planning.

How do I take custom engraving orders?

Mark engraved items “price on request”. Customers send the wording and the date they need it, the request lands in your Cornerrr Inbox, and you reply by email with a proof and a price.

Is it worth selling woodwork at craft fairs and online?

Yes, the two help each other. Fairs bring in first-time buyers and your website lets them come back later. Put your fair dates on the home page and a discount code on your business card.

Can I sell woodworking plans as well as finished pieces?

Yes. Plans are digital downloads delivered after payment on any paid plan, while finished pieces ship at the fixed rates you set.

Do I need any technical skills?

No. You describe your business in your own words and Cornerrr builds the website. Afterwards you change things by clicking, or by asking the assistant in plain words.

How much does it cost?

Building and previewing your website is free, with no card needed. To go live and take payments, choose a plan from $19 a month. Every paid plan starts with a 14-day free trial; a card is needed to start it.
