Step by step

How to sell hair care products online in 6 steps.

  1. Sort products by hair type and goal

Make collections for the way people describe their own hair: curly, coily, fine, thick, color-treated. Someone who opens “Curly” should find a full routine there, not your whole catalog.

  2. Say how much to use and when

Hair products disappoint when they’re used wrong. Say how much to apply, on wet or dry hair, and roughly how long a bottle lasts. It saves you a lot of “it didn’t work for me” emails.

  3. Show real results

Before-and-after photos persuade, but only use real ones, with the person’s permission and no retouching of the hair. Add a photo of the texture and of the bottle in a hand for size.

  4. Bundle routines into sets

Put a shampoo, conditioner and styler for one hair type together as a set with its own stock. A set makes the first order easy and raises the size of each order.

  5. Talk to salons and stylists

Stylists recommend products to clients every day. Add a “For salons” page with a price-on-request wholesale form, so they can ask for trade terms and testers.

  6. Make reordering simple

Offer refill pouches or larger bottles for people who already love a product. On the Growth plan a regular refill can be a subscription that Stripe bills for you.

Built in

A shop made for hair care products, not a blank template.

  • Sizes and scents as options

Each product can come in sizes or scents, each with its own price and stock, and you can file the same product in more than one hair-type collection.

  • Salon requests in your Inbox

Salons and stylists ask for wholesale prices through a request form. Requests land in your Inbox and by email, and you reply with your terms.

  • An assistant for the busywork

Ask it to add a “How to use” paragraph to every styler, write a page on caring for color-treated hair, or start a discount code for a launch, then apply or undo each change.

  • Payments straight to you

Customers pay through your own Stripe account, by card, wallets and the local methods you turn on. Cornerrr adds no transaction fee.

Good to know

  • Hair growth claims are drug claims

In the US, saying a product regrows hair or stops hair loss makes it a drug in the FDA’s eyes. Talk about shine, softness, frizz and how hair looks and feels instead.

  • Hair color has its own rules

Hair dyes carry special warning and patch-test label rules in the US, the EU and the UK, and many dye ingredients are restricted. Look these up before you add any color product.

  • Shampoos are cosmetics

In the US that brings MoCRA registration and listing (some small businesses are exempt), and in the EU and UK a Responsible Person, a safety assessment and notification before sale. Check what applies to you.

  • Bars ship lighter than bottles

Solid shampoo and conditioner bars are light, can’t leak and fit a padded envelope, which keeps shipping low. Liquids need taped caps and a sealed bag inside the box.

General information to help you get started, not legal advice. Rules differ by country, state and product, so check the ones that apply to you.

How it works

From a few words to a shop that takes payments, live.

  1. Step 1: Describe your business

A sentence or two is enough: what you do, who it’s for and how people buy from you.

  2. Step 2: We build it while you watch

Cornerrr writes your pages, adds your products or services, and picks the colours, fonts and look. It takes about a minute.

  3. Step 3: Connect payments

Link a Stripe account, or create one in a few minutes. Your customers pay you directly.

  4. Step 4: You’re live

Publish on your free Cornerrr web address, or use your own. Change anything later by asking.

Questions

Good to know

Is a shampoo bar soap or a cosmetic?

Most shampoo bars use synthetic cleansers rather than true soap, which makes them cosmetics in the US, and in the EU and UK all hair cleansers are cosmetics. Check how your formula and your claims are classed before you sell.

Can I sell my hair products to salons from my website?

Yes. Keep retail products for sale as usual and add a wholesale product or page with “price on request”. Salons send their details, the request lands in your Inbox, and you answer by email.

How do I ship liquid hair products without leaks?

Tape or shrink-band the caps, put each bottle in a sealed bag and pack it upright with filler. On Cornerrr you set fixed shipping rates by country and add the tracking number when you send it.

What should a hair care product page include?

The hair type it suits, what it does for how hair looks and feels, how to use it, the size and the full ingredients. Cornerrr can write a first draft from a product photo for you to edit.

Do I need any technical skills?

No. You describe your business in your own words and Cornerrr builds the website. Afterwards you change things by clicking, or by asking the assistant in plain words.

How much does it cost?

Building and previewing your website is free, with no card needed. To go live and take payments, choose a plan from $19 a month. Every paid plan starts with a 14-day free trial; a card is needed to start it.
