Step by step

How to sell eco-friendly products online in 6 steps.

  1. Replace vague claims with facts

Instead of “eco-friendly”, say what’s true and checkable: “plastic-free packaging”, “refillable glass bottle”, “made from recycled cotton”. Specific claims persuade careful buyers and keep you clear of greenwashing rules.

  2. Know the greenwashing rules where you sell

In the US, the FTC’s Green Guides cover claims such as “recyclable” and “compostable”. New EU rules ban generic claims like “eco-friendly” or “green” without recognized proof from late 2026, and the UK’s competition regulator can now fine businesses for misleading green claims.

  3. Use certification names only when certified

Logos and words such as “certified compostable”, “organic” or “Fair Trade” need a certificate behind them. In the EU, sustainability labels must now come from a certification scheme or a public authority.

  4. Show the swap in use

Photograph wraps on a bowl, bars in a soap dish and refills being poured. Buyers want to see how a swap works in an ordinary home before they give up the version they know.

  5. Ship the way you talk

Use plastic-free packing if you claim it, and say what the box, fill and tape are made of. If you sell to Germany, your packaging must be registered in the LUCID register before you ship.

  6. Bundle starter kits

A kitchen or bathroom starter kit helps first-time buyers choose. Make each kit its own product with its own stock, and list what it replaces.

A shop made for eco-friendly products, not a blank template.

Add pages that explain how you pack, where products come from and what you’re still working on. You can add any page you need and edit it by clicking.

  • Free-shipping codes that cut parcels

Offer a free-shipping discount code above an order amount you choose, so customers bundle items into one parcel instead of three.

Good to know

  • Compostable means different things

Home compostable and industrially compostable aren’t the same, and many customers can’t reach an industrial facility. The FTC’s guidance asks you to say which, and California restricts calling plastic products “biodegradable”.

  • Offsets and climate neutral claims

Under the new EU rules, claiming a product is “climate neutral” or “carbon neutral” because of carbon offsets is no longer allowed. Talk about the real reductions you’ve made instead.

  • Say what you haven’t solved yet

Customers trust shops that are open about trade-offs, such as a product that ships from far away or a part that still contains plastic. A short honest note does more than a perfect-sounding claim.

  1. Step 1: Describe your business

A sentence or two is enough: what you do, who it’s for and how people buy from you.

  2. Step 2: We build it while you watch

Cornerrr writes your pages, adds your products or services, and picks the colours, fonts and look. It takes about a minute.

  3. Step 3: Connect payments

Link a Stripe account, or create one in a few minutes. Your customers pay you directly.

  4. Step 4: You’re live

Publish on your free Cornerrr web address, or use your own. Change anything later by asking.

Questions

Good to know

Can I still call my products eco-friendly?

In the US you can, carefully: the FTC advises against broad claims like “eco-friendly” unless you qualify them with specifics you can prove. In the EU, generic claims like that are now banned without recognized proof, so specific claims are the safer choice everywhere.

What eco-friendly products sell well online?

Everyday swaps that people buy again: food wraps, shampoo and soap bars, refills, cleaning concentrates and brushes. Repeat purchases are where a subscription or a free-shipping code helps most.

How do I ship orders without plastic?

Paper tape, recycled cardboard, paper fill and paper mailers work for most swaps. If you say your shipping is plastic-free, check every layer, including the label and the tape.

Can Cornerrr check my sustainability claims?

No. Cornerrr builds your shop and the assistant can rewrite product words, but it can’t tell you whether a claim is legally sound. Ask it to replace vague words with specifics, then check each claim against your evidence.

Do I need any technical skills?

No. You describe your business in your own words and Cornerrr builds the website. Afterwards you change things by clicking, or by asking the assistant in plain words.

How much does it cost?

Building and previewing your website is free, with no card needed. To go live and take payments, choose a plan from $19 a month. Every paid plan starts with a 14-day free trial; a card is needed to start it.
