Step by step

How to sell enamel pins online in 6 steps.

  1. Test demand with preorders

Factories usually ask for a minimum order per design. Open a new design as a preorder with a set stock and a clear ship-by month, and place the production order once enough have sold.

  2. Say hard or soft enamel

Hard enamel is polished flat and smooth; soft enamel has raised metal lines you can feel. Also give the plating, the size, the number of posts and the backs (rubber, metal or locking).

  3. Photograph close up and on a jacket

Shoot each pin close up in daylight to show the enamel and plating, then on a denim jacket, bag or lanyard for scale. Show the backing card too, because many buyers keep them.

  4. Grade honestly and sell seconds

Pins with small flaws can sell as B-grade or seconds. Make them a separate option or product, describe the kind of flaws to expect, and keep A-grade photos off those pages.

  5. Launch a pin club

On the Growth plan, a monthly pin can be a subscription that Stripe bills automatically. Subscribers see their plan in their account, and you post each month’s pin to them.

  6. Take custom orders for groups

Clubs, bands, schools and companies order custom pins in bulk. List custom pins with “price on request” and ask for the quantity, size, colors and deadline in the form.

Built in

A shop made for enamel pins, not a blank template.

  • Preorders with fixed stock

Give a preorder design the stock of your planned run. Stock drops with every paid order and checkout stops at the limit, so you never promise more pins than the factory will make.

  • Plating and grade as options

Gold, silver or black nickel, A-grade or B-grade: each option has its own price, SKU and stock on one product page.

  • Custom pin requests

Group orders hide the price and cart button. Customers send the quantity and design idea, the request lands in your Inbox, and you reply by email with a quote and a mock-up.

  • Refund emails when plans change

If a run is late or cancelled and you refund an order, the customer gets a refund email. Say on every preorder what happens if a design doesn’t reach its run.

Good to know

  • Preorder shipping times

In the US, the FTC’s mail order rule expects you to ship within the time you state (or 30 days if you state none), and to tell buyers about delays and offer a refund. EU rules also default to 30 days unless you agree a date. Give a realistic ship-by month.

  • Backing cards do your marketing

A printed backing card with your name and web address travels with every pin that’s traded or gifted. Put the design name and edition size on the back.

  • Pins are lumpy mail

A pin on its card is usually too thick and rigid for standard letter rates. A padded mailer sent as a large letter or small parcel works in many countries; weigh one to set your fixed rates.

  1. Step 1: Describe your business

Cornerrr writes your pages, adds your products or services, and picks the colours, fonts and look. It takes about a minute.

  3. Step 3: Connect payments

Link a Stripe account, or create one in a few minutes. Your customers pay you directly.

  4. Step 4: You’re live

Publish on your free Cornerrr web address, or use your own. Change anything later by asking.

Questions

Good to know

How do I sell enamel pins as preorders?

Create the product with stock equal to your planned run, write the ship-by month in the description, and place the factory order once enough have sold. On Cornerrr checkout stops when the preorder stock runs out.

What’s the difference between hard and soft enamel pins?

Hard enamel is filled level with the metal lines and polished smooth, so it feels flat and wears well. Soft enamel sits below the lines, so you feel the texture, and it’s often cheaper to make. Say which you sell on every page.

What are B-grade enamel pins?

Pins with small flaws, such as a speck in the enamel or a plating scratch, that the maker sells for less. Describe what counts as B-grade for you, and sell them as their own option so nobody is surprised.

Can I run a monthly pin club?

Yes, on the Growth plan. Stripe bills members every month, and they see their subscription in their account. You design and post the month’s pin; members write to you if they want to stop.

Do I need any technical skills?

No. You describe your business in your own words and Cornerrr builds the website. Afterwards you change things by clicking, or by asking the assistant in plain words.

How much does it cost?

Building and previewing your website is free, with no card needed. To go live and take payments, choose a plan from $19 a month. Every paid plan starts with a 14-day free trial; a card is needed to start it.
