What is MB WAY?

MB WAY is a Portuguese digital wallet tied to the customer’s phone number and bank cards. At checkout the customer types their number, approves the payment in the MB WAY app, and Stripe tells you at once whether it went through. Payments are in euros, for one-time orders.

How your customers pay

  1. Choose MB WAY

    The customer picks MB WAY on your Stripe checkout for an order priced in euros.

  2. Type a phone number

    They enter the phone number linked to MB WAY. Most use a Portuguese +351 number, but numbers from other countries work too.

  3. Approve the notification

    A payment request appears in the MB WAY app. They check the amount and approve it there.

  4. Back to your shop

    The payment is confirmed immediately and the customer returns to your website, where the order already shows as paid.

Set up

Turn on MB WAY in three steps.

  1. Connect your Stripe account

    Link the Stripe account you already have, or create one in a few minutes from Cornerrr. Payments go straight to it; Cornerrr adds no transaction fee.

  2. Turn the method on in Stripe

    In your Stripe Dashboard, open the payment method settings and turn it on. Stripe may ask a few questions about your business first.

  3. It shows at checkout

    Your Cornerrr checkout is Stripe Checkout, so customers who can use the method see it automatically when their country and your currency match.

How do I add MB WAY to my Cornerrr store?

Connect your Stripe account, open the payment method settings in your Stripe Dashboard and turn MB WAY on. When your store sells in euros, Cornerrr’s Stripe Checkout shows MB WAY to eligible customers in Portugal, with nothing else to set up.

Can I use MB WAY for a subscription?

No. Stripe’s Checkout takes MB WAY for one-time payments only. Stripe can send MB WAY invoices that customers pay by hand, but Cornerrr’s subscriptions charge automatically, so subscribers pay by card or SEPA Direct Debit.

Is there a limit on MB WAY payments?

Yes. MB WAY has a maximum amount per payment, and every user has a daily limit they can raise in the app. If you sell larger items, such as furniture, keep cards or bank payments switched on as well.

What name appears on the customer’s bank statement?

MB WAY doesn’t support custom statement descriptors, so the statement shows Stripe’s company name with the amount. The order confirmation email from Cornerrr helps customers match the payment to your shop.

Can a customer dispute an MB WAY payment?

Yes, MB WAY has a claims process for fraud, double payments or a wrong amount. If a customer opens one, Stripe holds the amount and asks for evidence, such as the tracking number you added to the order, which you have seven days to send.

Do I need any technical skills?

No. You describe your business in your own words and Cornerrr builds the website. Afterwards you change things by clicking, or by asking the assistant in plain words.

How much does it cost?

Building and previewing your website is free, with no card needed. To go live and take payments, choose a plan from $19 a month. Every paid plan starts with a 14-day free trial; a card is needed to start it.
