Payments

How people in Bulgaria pay online.

Bulgarians pay online by card and with Apple Pay and Google Pay, but cash on delivery (наложен платеж) is still the habit for many orders, often collected at an Econt or Speedy office. Through Stripe you can take cards, wallets and Revolut Pay in euros. Cash on delivery isn’t part of Stripe Checkout, and PayPal isn’t available through Cornerrr’s checkout.

Before you start

Selling online in Bulgaria: what to know.

  1. Prices in euros only

Since 1 January 2026 the euro is Bulgaria’s currency, at a fixed rate of 1.95583 leva to the euro. The required display of prices in both currencies ended on 8 August 2026; you may still show leva for reference, but the euro price is the price.

  2. ДДС registration at €51,130

Register for VAT (ДДС) with the National Revenue Agency (НАП) within 7 days of your turnover passing €51,130 in a calendar year. The figure replaced the old BGN 100,000 threshold, and from 2026 it counts per calendar year rather than any 12 months.

  3. Tell НАП about your e-shop

Under Ordinance N-18, online shops report the shop and its web address to the National Revenue Agency before they start selling. Your accountant can file it, and can tell you whether you also need fiscal receipts for your orders.

  4. Consumer information in Bulgarian

Product details, terms and after-sales help for consumers must be in Bulgarian, along with your company name, ЕИК, address and contact details. Write your terms in Bulgarian from the start.

  5. Право на отказ

Buyers have 14 days to withdraw from an online purchase without giving a reason. Give the steps and the model withdrawal form on a returns page, and say who pays for return shipping.

  6. ДДС at 20%

The standard rate is 20%, with 9% for hotel stays. Prices for consumers include ДДС, and Stripe Tax can calculate it at checkout on any paid plan. Treat all of this as general information rather than legal or tax advice.

General information, current as of October 2026, not legal or tax advice. Rules and rates change, so check them with an accountant or adviser, or the official sources, before you rely on them.

Cornerrr

Built for businesses in Bulgaria

  • Prices in euros

Set your store’s currency to EUR and your products, shipping rates and checkout use it. Cornerrr works with about 140 currencies, one per web address.

  • VAT at checkout

Turn on Stripe Tax in your Stripe account and Cornerrr asks it to work out VAT for each order at checkout, on any paid plan. You can collect business customers’ VAT numbers too.

  • Your words in Bulgarian

Describe your business in Bulgarian and Cornerrr writes your pages in Bulgarian. Stripe Checkout shows in Bulgarian too. A few built-in cart and account labels are still in English today.

  • Local ways to pay

Checkout is Stripe’s own, so the local payment methods you turn on in Stripe show up for the customers who can use them, next to cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay.

Local tips

Make it feel local

  • Ship through Econt, Speedy and BOX NOW

Many Bulgarians collect parcels from an Econt or Speedy office or locker, or a BOX NOW locker, rather than at home. Set a fixed rate for office or locker delivery and another for door delivery.

  • Clean up anything that still says leva

Check old product descriptions, photos with price tags and size guides for leva prices. Round your euro prices to tidy amounts rather than leaving converted ones with odd cents.

  • Make paying ahead feel safe

Customers used to cash on delivery want to know what happens after they pay. Say when you ship, how the tracking number reaches them and how a refund works, right on the product page.

How it works

From a few words to your website, live.

  1. Step 1: Describe your business

A sentence or two is enough: what you do, who it’s for and how people buy from you.

  2. Step 2: We build it while you watch

Cornerrr writes your pages, adds your products or services, and picks the colours, fonts and look. It takes about a minute.

  3. Step 3: Connect payments

Link a Stripe account, or create one in a few minutes. Your customers pay you directly.

  4. Step 4: You’re live

Publish on your free Cornerrr web address, or use your own. Change anything later by asking.

Questions

Good to know

Can my website be in Bulgarian?

Yes. Describe your business in Bulgarian and Cornerrr writes the pages and products in Bulgarian, and Stripe’s checkout appears in Bulgarian. A few built-in cart and account labels are still in English today, which matters because consumer information should be in Bulgarian; you can rename the add-to-cart and checkout buttons.

Can I still price in leva?

No. Since 2026 the euro is the only currency for prices in Bulgaria. Set your store currency to EUR and Stripe Checkout charges in euros; you can still mention a leva amount in a description for reference.

Do I need a VAT number to start selling?

Not below €51,130 of turnover in a calendar year. You can register voluntarily, which helps if you sell to other businesses and want to deduct VAT on your costs.

What does Cornerrr set up for a Bulgarian shop?

A website in Bulgarian with your products, stock and options, fixed shipping rates for office, locker or door delivery, discount codes on a paid plan, and Stripe Checkout in euros. You add pages such as terms or returns; the AI drafts them for you to review.

Do I need any technical skills?

No. You describe your business in your own words and Cornerrr builds the website. Afterwards you change things by clicking, or by asking the assistant in plain words.

How much does it cost?

Building and previewing your website is free, with no card needed. To go live and take payments, choose a plan from $19 a month. Every paid plan starts with a 14-day free trial; a card is needed to start it.
