What is Cash App Pay?

Cash App Pay is the checkout option of Cash App, a popular US money app. Customers pay from their Cash App balance or the debit card linked to it, and approve the payment in the app. It’s only for businesses with a Stripe account in the US (not US territories), selling in US dollars to customers in the US, and to consumers rather than other businesses.

How your customers pay

  1. Cash App Pay at checkout

    The customer chooses Cash App Pay on Stripe Checkout, next to cards and the wallets you’ve turned on.

  2. The app on mobile, a QR code on desktop

    On a phone they’re taken straight to Cash App. On a computer they scan the QR code on the checkout page with their phone, which opens Cash App.

  3. Approve in Cash App

    They approve the payment in the app within ten minutes. Cash App uses their balance if it covers the whole order, and their linked debit card if it doesn’t.

  4. Back to your store

    They return to your order confirmation page and get your order email. On their statement the payment shows your business name with a CashApp* prefix.

  • Reach customers without a credit card

    Some customers, often younger ones, pay for most things from Cash App or a debit card rather than a credit card. A food truck taking preorders or a thrift store selling a weekly drop can meet them where their money is.

  • Fraud losses on Cash App’s side

    For payments the customer approves in the app, Stripe’s docs say Cash App takes on the losses from customer fraud. You still answer ordinary disputes, such as an item that didn’t arrive.

  • Works for subscriptions

    Cash App Pay supports recurring payments in Stripe Checkout, so a monthly treat box on the Growth plan can renew from the customer’s Cash App.

  • Best for everyday-sized orders

    Cash App sets its own spending limits for each customer, so large orders are more likely to be declined. Stripe recommends it for lower-value orders, which suits most small shops.

Set up

Turn on Cash App Pay in three steps.

  1. Connect your Stripe account

    Link the Stripe account you already have, or create one in a few minutes from Cornerrr. Payments go straight to it; Cornerrr adds no transaction fee.

  2. Turn the method on in Stripe

    In your Stripe Dashboard, open the payment method settings and turn it on. Stripe may ask a few questions about your business first.

  3. It shows at checkout

    Your Cornerrr checkout is Stripe Checkout, so customers who can use the method see it automatically when their country and your currency match.

How do I accept Cash App payments on my website?

Connect a US Stripe account to Cornerrr and turn on Cash App Pay in your Stripe Dashboard’s payment method settings. Cornerrr’s Stripe Checkout then shows it to customers in the US when your store sells in US dollars.

Is Cash App Pay the same as sending money to my $cashtag?

No. Customers aren’t sending you a personal payment. It’s a checkout payment through Stripe, tied to the order, with refunds and disputes handled in your Stripe Dashboard.

Can any business use Cash App Pay?

No. Cash App doesn’t allow some kinds of business at all, such as legal services, counseling and pharmacies, and asks others, such as spas and bars, for extra information. Stripe may review your account after you turn it on.

Does Cash App Pay work for subscriptions?

Yes. Cash App Pay supports recurring payments in Stripe Checkout. On Cornerrr, subscriptions need the Growth plan.

How do Cash App Pay refunds work?

Refund through Stripe, in full or in part, within 90 days of the payment, and your store emails the customer. Cash App sends the money back to their balance or card; it can take up to 10 business days and can’t be canceled once started.

Do I need any technical skills?

No. You describe your business in your own words and Cornerrr builds the website. Afterwards you change things by clicking, or by asking the assistant in plain words.
