Payments

How people in Denmark pay online.

Danes pay online with cards, including the co-branded Visa/Dankort many of them carry, and with MobilePay, the app they also use to pay each other. Stripe runs those co-branded cards on the Visa side, so they work at checkout, and offers MobilePay for one-off orders in kroner. Apple Pay, Google Pay, Klarna and Revolut Pay are there too once you turn them on.

Before you start

Selling online in Denmark: what to know.

  1. Register for moms above DKK 50,000

Register for moms on Virk.dk once your taxable sales pass DKK 50,000 in a calendar year, and charge moms from the sale that takes you over. Below that, registering is your choice.

  2. One rate of 25% on nearly everything

Denmark has no reduced VAT rates, so food, clothes and services all carry 25% moms (newspapers are a rare exception). Consumer prices must include it, and Stripe Tax can calculate it at checkout on any paid plan.

  3. EU customers and the One-Stop Shop

Above €10,000 a year of sales to consumers in other EU countries, charge each customer’s local VAT. The One-Stop Shop lets you declare it all to the Danish Tax Agency in one quarterly return instead of registering abroad.

  4. The Faroe Islands and Greenland are outside the EU

Orders to the Faroe Islands and Greenland count as exports for VAT and customs, even though both are part of the Danish realm. Check the customs paperwork with your carrier before you add them to your shipping countries.

  5. Fortrydelsesret and faulty goods

Customers can cancel most online purchases within 14 days (fortrydelsesret) and complain about faulty goods for two years. Say how to return an item and who pays for return shipping on a returns page.

  6. Your CVR number and privacy

Show your company name, CVR number, address and email on the website, and explain in a privacy policy what you collect and why, as GDPR asks. This is general information, not legal advice.

General information, current as of October 2026, not legal or tax advice. Rules and rates change, so check them with an accountant or adviser, or the official sources, before you rely on them.

Cornerrr

Built for businesses in Denmark

  • Prices in DKK

Set your store’s currency to DKK and your products, shipping rates and checkout use it. Cornerrr works with about 140 currencies, one per web address.

  • VAT at checkout

Turn on Stripe Tax in your Stripe account and Cornerrr asks it to work out VAT for each order at checkout, on any paid plan. You can collect business customers’ VAT numbers too.

  • Your words in Danish

Describe your business in Danish and Cornerrr writes your pages in Danish. Stripe Checkout shows in Danish too. A few built-in cart and account labels are still in English today.

  • Local ways to pay

Checkout is Stripe’s own, so the local payment methods you turn on in Stripe show up for the customers who can use them, next to cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay.

Local tips

Make it feel local

  • Offer parcel shop delivery

Many Danes collect parcels from a pakkeshop near home. PostNord, GLS, DAO and Bring all run parcel shop networks, so set one fixed rate for parcel shop delivery and another for delivery to the door.

  • Use the e-mærket rules as a checklist

The e-mærket is a Danish trust label for online shops that many shoppers recognize. You don’t need it to sell, but its requirements on terms, returns and company details make a useful checklist even if you never apply.

  • Say you take MobilePay before checkout

Mention MobilePay on your home page and in your FAQ. People who don’t want to type card details look for it, and seeing it early keeps them from leaving at the payment step.

  • Keep every price in kroner

Set your store currency to Danish kroner so prices, discount codes and shipping rates all show in DKK. Extra prices in euros or Swedish kronor, each on a web address of its own, need the Pro plan.

How it works

From a few words to your website, live.

  1. Step 1: Describe your business

A sentence or two is enough: what you do, who it’s for and how people buy from you.

  2. Step 2: We build it while you watch

Cornerrr writes your pages, adds your products or services, and picks the colours, fonts and look. It takes about a minute.

  3. Step 3: Connect payments

Link a Stripe account, or create one in a few minutes. Your customers pay you directly.

  4. Step 4: You’re live

Publish on your free Cornerrr web address, or use your own. Change anything later by asking.

Questions

Good to know

Can my website be in Danish?

Yes. Write your description in Danish and Cornerrr writes the website’s pages and products in Danish, and Stripe’s checkout appears in Danish. A few built-in cart and account labels are in English today; the add-to-cart and checkout buttons can be renamed.

Does MobilePay work on a Cornerrr website?

Yes, through Stripe. Turn MobilePay on in your Stripe Dashboard and Stripe Checkout offers it for orders in kroner. It doesn’t cover subscriptions, so subscribers pay by card or another method that does.

Do Dankort cards work with Stripe?

Co-branded Visa/Dankort cards do: Stripe processes them on the Visa network. Stripe doesn’t support the Dankort network on its own, so a card that carries only Dankort won’t work.

Can I sell to Germany and Sweden too?

Yes. Add them to the countries you ship to. Prices stay in kroner unless you’re on Pro, and once your sales to consumers in other EU countries pass €10,000 a year, you charge their VAT through the One-Stop Shop.

Do I need any technical skills?

No. You describe your business in your own words and Cornerrr builds the website. Afterwards you change things by clicking, or by asking the assistant in plain words.

How much does it cost?

Building and previewing your website is free, with no card needed. To go live and take payments, choose a plan from $19 a month. Every paid plan starts with a 14-day free trial; a card is needed to start it.
