Cornerrr in Belgium
Describe your business in Dutch, French or German and Cornerrr writes your shop in that language, with products, pages, a request form and a Stripe checkout that takes Bancontact. Here’s what to know about selling online in Belgium.
Payments
Bancontact is Belgium’s own payment method: most Belgian bank cards carry it, and customers pay with the card or with the Bancontact app on their phone. Visa and Mastercard credit cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay are common for online orders too, Klarna’s “Pay later” lets customers pay after delivery, and SEPA Direct Debit suits regular payments from a Belgian account.
Before you start
Belgian businesses show their enterprise number (ondernemingsnummer, numéro d’entreprise) on their website, with their name, address and email. Your VAT number is that same number with BE in front, so one line in the footer covers both.
Standard VAT is 21%, with reduced rates of 6% and 12%. With annual turnover up to €25,000, the franchise regime lets you charge no VAT, but you still register and get a VAT number. Ask your accountant whether it suits you.
Since 1 January 2026, invoices between Belgian VAT-registered businesses must be structured e-invoices, usually sent through the Peppol network. Sales to consumers aren’t covered. If you sell to Belgian companies, ask your accountant how to send them.
Consumers can withdraw within 14 days of delivery without giving a reason, and you refund within 14 days. EU rules that apply from 19 June 2026 also call for a clearly labeled online withdrawal function. Cornerrr adds one to your store’s footer and emails the customer an acknowledgement of receipt; your adviser can tell you what your terms should say about it.
Belgium has three official languages: Dutch in Flanders, French in Wallonia, both in Brussels and German in the east. Product labels and instructions generally need the language of the region where you sell, so check what applies to your products.
GDPR applies, overseen by the Data Protection Authority (GBA/APD), so publish a privacy policy. Show consumer prices including VAT, and when you announce a discount, compare it with your lowest price of the last 30 days.
General information, current as of October 2026, not legal or tax advice. Rules and rates change, so check them with an accountant or adviser, or the official sources, before you rely on them.
Cornerrr
Set your store’s currency to EUR and your products, shipping rates and checkout use it. Cornerrr works with about 140 currencies, one per web address.
Turn on Stripe Tax in your Stripe account and Cornerrr asks it to work out VAT for each order at checkout, on any paid plan. You can collect business customers’ VAT numbers too.
Describe your business in Dutch and Cornerrr writes your pages in Dutch. Stripe Checkout shows in Dutch too. A few built-in cart and account labels are still in English today.
Checkout is Stripe’s own, so the local payment methods you turn on in Stripe show up for the customers who can use them, next to cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay.
Local tips
Cornerrr writes one language per website. A shop in Ghent will usually choose Dutch and one in Liège French. If many customers speak the other language, add one short page in it with your delivery, returns and contact details.
Belgian shoppers look for Bancontact before they type a card number. Mention it on your payment and FAQ pages so they know they can pay the way they always do.
bpost, PostNL, DPD and GLS all deliver in Belgium, and parcel points and lockers are widely used. Say which carrier you use and when you ship, and add the tracking number to each order for the shipping email.
Many Belgian shops sell into the Netherlands, France and Luxembourg. Every fixed rate is offered at checkout, so name them by destination, such as “Belgium” and “Netherlands and France”, with a delivery estimate each, and check that orders used the right one.

Questions
Not both on one website today: Cornerrr writes one language per website. Describe your business in Dutch or French and the AI writes every page in it, and Stripe’s checkout page is translated too. A few built-in cart and account labels are still in English; the add-to-cart and checkout buttons can be renamed.
Yes, for one-time orders. Turn on Bancontact in your Stripe Dashboard and it appears at checkout for euro payments, by card or with the Bancontact app. For subscriptions, offer cards or SEPA Direct Debit instead.
Yes. The franchise means you charge no VAT up to €25,000 of annual turnover, but you still register with the tax authorities and get a VAT number. This is general information; check with your accountant or the FPS Finance.
Yes. Add them to the countries you ship to. Once your sales to consumers in other EU countries pass €10,000 a year in total, you charge their VAT (21% in the Netherlands, 20% in France) and can declare it in one return through the One-Stop Shop.
No. You describe your business in your own words and Cornerrr builds the website. Afterwards you change things by clicking, or by asking the assistant in plain words.
